Staying Comfortable

First and foremost, if its hot, take a swim!

Can't get to the water? Well a dust bath is almost as good.

Certainly, do whatever is necessary to stay comfortable, such as taking care of those pesky itches.

Even if they are in peculiar places. Be resourceful!

Another round of window shopping, this time in a herd of geldings, and Malcolm may have found his future riding partner. The two of them hit it off really well. And as a bonus he is absolutly gorgeous!

When we got home I told the girls, and they were thrilled. So thrilled, in fact, that they insisted we celebrate!

And since we had just used up the last of their cookies a few days before, they thought baking a batch of something special would be an appropriate way to celebrate. Sort of a "Welcome to Your New Home" party, but before the guest of honor arrives.

These dogs are particularly smart. Want proof?
They recognize their cookbook when I pull it off the shelf, from amongst all my people food cookbooks. The intensity level of the hyper-activity goes up a notch or two, and I suddenly have lots of help in the kitchen. Well I always have lots of help in the kitchen, but when the blue book comes off the shelf, my "help" hovers around more closely and stands on two feet to check the progress of what's going on up on the counter.

I've loved this little book since I got it. The four of us highly recommend it, me for the ease and novelty of the cookies, and the girls because everything that comes out of that book is just so darn delicious and all about them!
This time we selected this recipe b/c we had all the ingredients on hand and we wanted to try something we hadn't made before. I usually stick to the recipes that can be stored at room temperature because we take them in the truck with us. But this time we went out on a limb and cooked something that needs to be refrigerated.
All the recipes are so easy and leave room for creativity if you want to be that way. The big plus in my mind is that you can use all organic ingredients and I know exactly what my girls are getting when they eat their cookies. And trust me, we eat a LOT of cookies!

For most of the recipes you just put everything in the bowl and stir it up. Then some get rolled out and cut with cookie cutters. Some are spread in a pan and cut into bars and squares. Some are dropped by teaspoon onto cookie sheets.
These were prepared by spooning into my mini-muffin pan.

Ladies and Gentleman, I present for your canine's enjoyment (and to make your kitchen smell yummy)......

The Elvis Pupsleys!
A delicious snack with peanut butter, banana, and carob chips! Enjoyed by the house dogs and gobbled down by the porch dogs! Everyone gave these 4 paws up and a tail wag!
